Akiya Scout is a local-first Chrome extension. It is designed so your research data stays on your own device.
Data we collect
None. Akiya Scout has no backend server and no analytics. We do not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal information or browsing activity.
Data you create, stored locally
Listings you choose to save, your notes, tags, statuses, and settings are stored only in your browser using IndexedDB and chrome.storage.local. This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly export it (CSV, JSON, clipboard, or Google Sheets). You can delete all of it at any time from Settings → “Clear all local data,” or by removing the extension.
When the extension reads a page
Akiya Scout reads the content of a web page only when you click a capture button (“Save Current Listing,” “Extract Visible Listings”), run the optional field-mapping picker, or run the “Check current page now” watcher. It does not read pages in the background, does not crawl websites, does not follow pagination automatically, and does not bypass logins, paywalls, or CAPTCHAs. Captured page content is processed locally to extract listing fields and is shown to you for review before anything is saved.
Network requests
The extension makes outbound network requests in only two cases, both started by you, and neither sends your personal data or browsing history:
- Exchange rates: clicking “Update rates now” fetches public currency rates from a public exchange-rate service (open.er-api.com). The request contains no personal data.
- Google Sheets export: clicking “Send to Google Sheets” copies your selected listings to your clipboard and opens a new, blank Google Sheet for you to paste into. We do not connect to your Google account.
Permissions
The extension requests the minimum Chrome permissions needed for the features above (activeTab, scripting, storage, alarms, notifications, downloads). Access to a specific website’s content is requested only at the moment you ask the dashboard to read that site, and you may decline.
Children’s privacy
Akiya Scout is a general-purpose research tool and is not directed to children.

If this policy changes, the “Last updated” date above will change and the new version will appear here.
